Accessible and Inclusive Tourism for a Sustainable and Equitable Experience
In Costa Rica, tourism is conceived as a universal right, guaranteeing access to leisure and recreation for all people under conditions of accessibility, comfort, and quality.
Origin
2018
Launched in 2018 by the ICT, the Social Tourism with Integrity Program promoted tourism as a right for people in vulnerable conditions, achieving a national impact through partnerships with over 36 organizations.
2023
In 2023, the ICT advanced this effort with the launch of the Tourism for All People (TpTP) Program, strengthening its institutional participation and expanding the reach of inclusive tourism. In its first year, the TpTP benefited nearly one thousand people and signed 30 agreements with tourism organizations and companies.
2025
In 2025, the ICT invites more private sector companies to join this collaborative network to advance toward truly accessible and inclusive tourism in Costa Rica.
How to Join?
The program is free for tourism companies and organizations that promote accessible tourism. Signatory organizations commit to signing the pledge to foster inclusive and more accessible tourism for a two-year term.
